Directions:
The Tree House is located on the north side of the Hokianga Harbour, Northland
6km South of Kohukohu and 2km West of the car ferry landing.
Allow 5 hours to drive to the Tree House from Auckland.
From State Highway 1:
Turn off at Mangamuka (35 km south of Kaitaia) and follow signs to the car ferry. Continue on past the Narrows ferry landing. The Tree House is 2km past the car ferry on the right.
From South on the Twin Coast Discovery Highway:
Turn off State Highway 12 at the Rawene junction, continue on 8km to Rawene and travel across on the car ferry to the Narrows landing. The last ferry sails at 7:30pm. Turn left at the Narrows and follow the road 2km to the Tree House.
From North on the Twin Coast Discovery Highway:
Follow the Twin Coast Discovery Highway south through Herekino, Broadwood and Kohukohu. Turn right at the car ferry and travel 2km to reach the Tree House.
Bus Transport to the Tree House
Buy a "Total Northland" or "Northland Escape" bus pass from Magic Travellers Network in Auckland. The Magic Bus goes to Bay of Islands and Hokianga before returning to Auckland. The Magic Bus travels through Hokianga 3 or 4 times a week. The closest bus stop to The Tree House is at Rawene. After alighting from the bus at Rawene, catch the Hokianga ferry across the harbour to the northern ferry terminal. We can pick you up at the northern terminal.
